About us
Scoria is a team of filmmakers - directors, cinematographers, writers, producers, and editors, who came together through a shared obsession of craft and have been working that way ever since.
Our name comes from volcanic rock, formed under pressure, structurally strong, lighter than it looks reflecting the duality of our production company.
Every decision we make is shaped by a clear sense of purpose. Through every step, we've focused on staying true to our values and making space for thoughtful, lasting work.

Miriam Czarny
Born in Poland, moved to the UK to pursue studies in film. Software developer and film director with a background that bridges storytelling and technical innovation. Began a filmmaking career at 15 as a video editor for some of Poland’s largest YouTubers. -

Daniel Banchik
Born and raised in Mexico city, studied college in the Arts University Bournemouth getting a degree in film production for a Foundation and a BA Diploma. He is a Producer, Director, Writer and 1st AD. Fluent in Spanish, English and French. Working on Commercials, Features and Shorts.

Ruby Cilliers
Producer, 1st AD, director born in Jersey, based in the UK studied film production. She has a focus in producing experimental media and documentary films pushing filmmakers to ensure their idea and cause is heard above the noise.

A writer, director, producer born in New Zealand and raised in the UK, with interest in producing work that blurs the line between fiction and non-fiction. With emphasis on finding the humanity in surrealist concepts.

Chrystal Yoon Hyung Kim
Chrystal Yoon Hyung Kim is a producer who has produced upwards of fifteen short films. Chrystal strives to bring light and uplift to stories and people that have gone unheard. She believes that effective use of story and form can engage a wider audience to even the most niche experiences.

Hebe Thorp
Born and based in the UK, Hebe is a production designer and artist, with a BA in Film Production from Arts University Bournemouth. Experience on both location and set builds, from the initial designs throughout construction to scenic painting and set dressing.

We embed into existing productions as easily as we lead our own. The collective structure means you get the right people for the job, built around your project.
We’re also building something new. Scoria is developing original technology for productions to modernise cooperation between production and post production by bringing script supervising, continuity tracking, and onset editing into a single workflow.
